The first time I saw a picture of Iris Apfel I felt like I'd finally found someone like me. Never mind the nearly 60 year age gap. Nevermind that she's a tough as nails New Yorker. We're made of the same beautifully embroidered cloth. We both have a style that the general public doesn't really understand. We're both granny chic, even before it was the hot thing. We both can't comprehend why people assume they have to dress like everyone else. It's not that everyone else dresses exciting or innovative. Just put something on & head out the door, no need to think about it. That mindset keeps me up at night. I just don't get it. That's why I adore her & this brilliant quote. "When you don't dress like everyone else, you don't have to think like everyone else." The NY Times has a great article on her, again. She's worthy of the attention & hype. I dig her.
