Style Icons- Jenna Lyons

I KNOW you saw the Oprah episode (click that link for the video from the Oprah Glamorous Dream Jobs episode) featuring Jenn Lyons of JCrew. Jenna started working at JCrew when she was 21 & now holds the executive creative director position. A dream job for sure. It's not an easy job though, can you imagine the pressure & hard work? Amazing fun hard creative work. Jenna nearly single handed turned JCrew back into a relevant fashion house. Her fashion advice is so similar to how I look at my closet, that must be why I'm so in AWE of her.

  • Make a statement with jewelry.
  • Balance feminine pieces with tomboy accents, like a military blazer.
  • Wear opposites. If you're wearing something tailored, sprinkle in some sequins.
  • Mix textures—pair tweed with silk, for example.
From Oprah's online article: "You don't actually think about what time it is. I never look at the clock. I love what I do ,and I think I don't care about whether I've been there, you know, until 10 p.m.," she says "And do it 110 percent, whatever you do—whether it's getting the coffee, whether it's putting the finishing touches on that dress—do it 110 percent. The people you work with will notice, and that will be rewarded."

But what we REALLY want to see are some things in her daily life she loves, items that convey her amazing style & taste...so here's a few items from Elle Decor.

This gorgeous vintage 1960's acrylic chair is in Jenna's office. She loves that the chairs is only made up of 3 materials, acrylic, leather & brass.

Olatz sheets, Jenna has the white with red stripe duvet & sheets. She love's them for the clean graphic feel, but also because they are amazing quality sheets & bedding.

These Astier de Villatte vases are among her favorite items because they are so simple, like cans without labels, but the silver provides a glimmer.

And obviously she can't live without her shoe wall, after seeing it I'm not sure I can live without it either! As with any fashion loving lady, Jenna has a weak spot for shoes. I have serious shoe envy;)

Jenna lives in an amazing brownstone in Brooklyn that her & her husband artist Vincent Mazeu took 2 years to remodel. It was completely worth the hard work & the wait.

Who's your favorite "go to" person for great style? I have SO many! I can't wait to share them with you. One of the things I admire most in a person is their since of style, it shows they really know themselves. It takes a lot of work to figure out your style. Hopefully with some of these great influences all of our styles will all improve a bit!
