Friday Back When.

Todays Friday Back When is a little bit different. I want to show how people today are incorporating the retro/ vintage elements into their homes. Since pouring through the vintage decorating books I have a hard time not seeing vintage elements in every home. Even those homes that would be offended to hear such things! You just can't get past it, everyone is influenced by the past.

This room is influenced by the pops of pink, the style of the cocktail table & the artwork. Many of the books I've seen show groupings of art similar to this. The patterns and furniture arrangement make it modern for today. Image source here.

The furnishings in this room are ALL from another era, even different eras. What makes this room work for a modern home is the re-upholstery in bright yellow & the modern bedding. Using old frames with new upholstery is an easy way to make your room more interesting. Image source here.

Believe it or not this is not a vintage shot! This room has been carefully curated to resemble the Mid-Century style. Each piece has been selected & gathered over time to remain authentic to the era. I love that console, I wish it was in my living room with the TV hung above it! Image source here.

This is one of my all time favorite rooms. It feels cozy & friendly but also thought out & purposeful. The scale of the furnishings are the most noticeable throw-back to vintage furnishings. Also many of the styles are vintage styles re-worked. When antique or vintage (let's be honest what's the difference) furnishings are paired with modern day pieces a new level of interest is added to the space. Image source here.

Do you see vintage influences in your home? I purchase a lot of vintage for myself. My favorites being Mid-Century & Regency, currently. My preferences change with the wind though!
