Friday Back When.
Precise color palettes were used during certain periods, the choices often dependent upon the dyes available at the time. There is no such limitation today, however, and therefore no reason why you should confine your colors to those that were customary during your furniture's period. After all, your home is not a museum. New colors can have a refreshing effect on a period room.
It is always desirable, though, to know the colors that are proper for your period. And it's often useful knowledge. Some of them are quite lovely, so much so that you would choose them freely even from an unlimited range.
Friday Back When is a weekly feature highlighting images and text from vintage decorating books. Today’s exert is from The Complete Family Interior Decorating Book, 1972.
